Delete Your Account and Data
Last Updated: October 21, 2026
How to Delete Your Account
This page is for users of the Verboo apps for iOS, macOS, Android and Windows, provided by Verboo.
In the app. Open Settings, choose Delete Account, type your Verboo ID (your username) to confirm, and press Delete My Account. The account is deleted at once, and the app erases its data from the device.
Without the app. Write to support@verboo.org from the email address your account was registered with. Put "Delete my account" in the subject and your Verboo ID in the letter. We answer to that address to confirm the request is yours, and then delete the account. You do not need to have the app installed.
What Is Deleted
- Your account's credentials: the email address, and the stored hashes of your password and recovery phrase.
- Every sign-in session on every device, and the registrations that deliver notifications to those devices.
- Your profile: name, photo and the other details you entered.
- Your copy of your message history kept on our servers, and your contacts.
- Your memberships in groups and channels. A group you owned passes to its longest-serving admin or member; a channel you owned passes to its longest-serving admin, and a channel with no other admin is deleted.
- Any diagnostic log you sent us from the app.
Data kept only on your device (the local message database and its encryption keys) is erased by the app when you delete the account in it; on your other devices it is removed when you sign out with "erase" or uninstall the app.
What Is Kept
- Your Verboo ID stays reserved and is never given to anyone else, so nobody can pose as you to the people you wrote to. Nothing but the name and the date of deletion is stored with it; the people you wrote to see "Deleted account" in its place.
- Messages and files you sent to other people stay in their conversations, as letters you sent stay with their recipients. Files on our servers expire on their own, at most 24 hours after upload, unless they belong to a channel.
- Backups of our servers made before the deletion are kept for up to 12 months and then overwritten; they are used only to restore the service after a failure, and a restored copy of a deleted account is deleted again.
- Reports you sent, and reports about you, are kept for one year, and reports of content involving a minor for at least ten years, as our Privacy Policy says; a measure taken on a report is not undone by deleting the account.
Deleting Data Without Deleting the Account
You can delete single messages or a whole conversation in the app at any time. To have a diagnostic log you sent us deleted, or your account email address corrected, write to support@verboo.org.
How Long It Takes
Deleting in the app takes effect at once; your data is removed from our servers within minutes. A request by email is carried out within 30 days of our confirming it is yours. Deletion cannot be undone: the account and its conversations cannot be restored.
